Young people in Sarsfield have expanded their unique outdoor photographic exhibition.
Gippsland Goodness told you in August how the best photos out of hundreds taken by school students from Sarsfield went on display at the hub of the region’s bushfire recovery efforts. Once again, the young photographers have worked in family groups to hang more large format prints of their photos on the fencing surrounding the Bushfire Recovery Hub in School Road, Sarsfield.
There are now fifty pieces of photographic art on show, photos selected by the young people from the many they have taken as part of the Sarsfield Snaps by Sarsfield Kids project.
Since soon after the December bushfire did such damage to the small community, the Sarsfield Snaps project, supported by Fujifilm Australia, Bushfire Recovery Victoria, Gippsland Lakes Complete Health and iEARN Australia has enabled and encouraged the participants to view their surroundings through a camera lens and to share what they see, what they value and what excites them, with their fellow participants and with a wider audience.
As the exhibition is open-air along School Road, the public can view it at any time.
As ‘Covid-normal’ opportunities increase for the community to get together, the project participants are looking forward meeting, sharing and welcoming new members into the adventure.
In the meantime, a 24-month calendar of the young peoples’ photos is about to be distributed to all Sarsfield residents.
